AE and Magic bullet and FCP

Hey guys, I'm not at all familiar with AE. I hear that it is great, and that one can do amazing things with it. I"m interested in AE because I saw what Alex Ferrari was able to do in "Broken" with the help of Magic Bullet. I've been asking around and I'm told that Magic bullet is a plug in for AE and that Magic Bullet can not run directly with FCP. If this is true, does it mean that to use Magic Bullet I first have to learn AE?

How does over all work? Do I have import my video from FCP into AE and then work on AE?

Can anyone give me an overall view of the process?

Thank you for your help guys I'm trying to get a general Idea of how it works so maybe I can know where to begin my learning.

there is a version of the bullet for final cut, which will save you from having to learn AE just to do this. Its called "magic bullet editors"

You only really need the version for after effects if you're going to be converting 60i to 24p.
There is no need for that if you're source material is already 24p. Just get the editors version, unless of course you want to convert 60i, but, its expensive.
Magic bullet suite is around $1000 and magic bullet editors is $300; unless of course you get a dvx and editors is included!
And there are cheaper ways to convert your 60i material!!!

With version 2 out now, the suite is down to $795. Still pricy, but a significant drop in price from V1.0

Remember that Magic Bullet for Editors WILL run in AE (at least 1.0 does; I haven't upgraded to 2.0). The only caveat is that it will NOT import the presets.

Or, if you like FCP....

www.nattress.com

For Film Effects, which was also used on Broken. It does 60i to 24p which MB for E does not. It has more tools than MB, and better customer support. Check out the free demo.

The new Magic Bullet Editor v2 for FCP now can run in realtime with RT. I haven't tried it yet, but it would be a great step up from v1 of editors. I've worked with Magic Bullet extensively in AE and FCP and I think it's a wonderful program, and it is very in depth in what it can do. Plus, I'm a little partial to the guys who wrote it, they are very professional and know what they are doing.
