AE and its RAM usage.

Hey everyone,

Working on an advanced AE project, went to export, and under my log settings, my RAM shows it is pulling only 37% of 1023 MB (1G). Does this mean that only 37% of my systems RAM is being used to export?

I have noticed recently that number never exceeds 50% of my total RAM. Is that really all my system can lend to rendering, and still sustain a safe operation?

I know you can manually change the amount of RAM AE uses to render, but after turning this setting most of the way up, I still never get much above 40%...

Does this seem right?

RAM doesn't affect your render speed as much as your CPU. It's used mainly for preview.

Further to this... I have ram saver pro which shows the rams as a % free. In AE pro the ram seems to leak. I won't be rendering or anything and the ram keeps getting chewed. I usually save my work, shut down ae, then restart to get some ram back. Any thoughts?
