AE and Encore DVD

I'm making a DVD for all of my video work.
The actual DVD all works fine, so I wanted to animate the menus. I made a nice simple menu animation in AE, but I can't find any way of getting the AE composition back into encore with the buttons still attached to the animation.

The only way i've found is to export the animation into and AVI, edit it in premiere then export it again then set it as the first play in encore. obviously this leads to a dramatic loss of quality.

Anyone got any tips?

what versions of the software are you using? either way about it, you should create the menus in photoshop,. and them import them into AE as compositions with all layers, and animate them there, then you can export the last frame as photoshop layers for your new menu after the animation commences. this will give you a new .psd and should have the buttons intact as long as you dont change the naming convention of the buttons. you would export tyhe resulting animation as an AVI and use it as a link from the proper buttons with the end action being the next menu or animation or timeline youd like it to go to.

the buttons are actually recognized and defined by their name and organization so you can actually create buttons in photoshop[ without ever going into encore.

Im having problems gittin the composition saved as an AVI. Even though i've shortened the layers the AVI is still really long.
