AE 6.5 Shuts Down - need help

Hey guys... Can anyone tell my why my AE program shuts down EVERY time I try to import anyting... I can't do Anything. It just completely closes, disappears, vanishes, when you try to do anything... I've tried to repair... I've reinstalled... it still does the same thing...

any ideas...

When I first got my comp. I had two hard drives installed. One to run my programs the other to store audio video... AE worked fine...

Now I have two more hard drives (total of 3 internal, and one external) can't use AE... have no clue as to if this may have something to do with it.

I have a 1.5 GB or ram.

I have two monitors hooked up now... and if I recall correctly.. I only had one when I initially tried using AE when it did work...

Like I said, I don't know if any of this could have anything to do with why it just disappears...

My discreet combustion does the same thing.

did you try to install QuickTIme V7.03 lately !!
that might be the problem, if yes please update your Display driver, that should work it out for you.

I am having this same problem, except mine vanishes when I try to scroll along the timeline. Can somebody PLEASE inform us of a solution.
 
Remove (cut & paste somewhere else) the OpenGL3D.aex plugin that is in the application folder.

C:\Program Files\Adobe\After Effects 6.5\Support Files\Plug-ins\Standard\Extensions

Worked for me.
