Hey Guys,

I was recently given investing on an Ultra Low Budget film $170K

it's a nice Dramatic Horror Film. The question Is, if you had the opportunity and a contact to shoot using a Red ($500 a day), would you do it? what kind of Camera would you shoot your first Horror film with?

I personally own a HVX200, should I just get the lens adapters to go with it and save money?

thanks a lot!!!!

Congrats, how many days is the shoot? Are you well versed with an adapter or a Red?
Are you directing as well, or you DPing . What is the final output format? Will you be able to keep it after the wrap. These questions are vital in your decision.

Cheers

Speak of the devil.

My production company has been hired to shoot a horror feature this summer on our Red system. Turns out the producer was one of the actors we hired last year on one of our earliest commercial Red projects.

I'm always amazed at just who can go out and raise a mountain of cash.

15-20 days

I am Producing & Directing, not a DP. We have sources inside Lionsgate whom we are approaching to get distribution or Selling it outright. We are going to screen it at Festivals if it doesn't work out hoping to get a deal.

Let me know if you need a storyboard artist or art director

;)

I would do it, only if you know how many shooting days you have, AND if you have a working pipeline to use the Red. Using the Red and getting the footage back is a whole unique process. I recommend listening to the red centre podcasts on fxguide.com

15-20 days os our estimated shooting schedule.
