Advice/suggestions wanted - possibly switching NLE

All - I know this topic's come up a ton of times, but I didn't see it in the stickies and searches I was able to do turned up blah....so here goes...(also couldn't figure out which section to put this in).

I currently am on a PC running the CS4 Master Collection. Doing basic videography stuff like weddings, live performances, etc I'm fairly sure that it's capable enough (has been so far).

My question is in YOUR experiences, is Premiere CS4 a capable enough editor for doing something along the lines of broadcast advertising (including HD adverts), independent films, etc? If not, would you suggest going to FCP (have old version on dual G5 Powermac) or Avid (which version...Media Composer?)?

I've used Premiere & FCP (5 i think) about the same amount of time, never used Avid, and so far mostly only use After Effects since I rarely do any actual editing.

My fiancee & I are about to move forward on our next steps in the business planning to present to our financial backing and need to know the most capable solution for what we're doing. I do know that there are PCs that are officially supported by Avid that are more cost effective than the HP-only ones of previous versions (priced one this morning less than $2k).

Thanks in advance.

Adobe's fine. Other people will want you to know FCP and Avid if you get hired as an editor, but they all do the same thing.
