Advice requested re. buying reflector from rostronics

Hi fellow dvxusers, I am more or less just getting started with digital filmmaking, but want to learn about lighting and make some indie shorts in a while. So I'm getting close to buying a Britek light kit from rostronics and was wondering, they also sell this reflector stand & a few different reflectors:

I don't know much about these things but I believe I've heard that a reflector can come in handy at times, and if I'm going to get one from rostronics I might as well order it with my kit. So does anyone have buying advice?

Should I get one of their 5-in-1 reflector kits? 32", 42" or 42" x 72"? And is it worth getting their deluxe stand for it? Thanks for replies.

reflectors can come in handy alot, I figured I would only use tem in EXT shots, but soon realized they are applicable anywhere. I didnt buy an acual reflector or reflector set, instead I bought a few $3 large foam high gloss white "grammer school science project" style boards, and they are excellent.

foam core is the one, if I had a choice bewtween that and my photo friends round reflector set......I think I wold take my boards

I use both foam core and reflectors. What's nice about the reflectors is that they fold up so small. I find that I use the center diffusion disc of the 5-in-1 a lot for exterior shots.

Yes but the reflector disk can shake very easly and run a good shot. They are great for travel. I used one on a show in the middle of the Mexican desert where all the space I had to pack was my backpack, we were driving the Baja 500. But on anything else I just make myself any size shinny board. Silver on one side and soft white on the other. Or Hard white and soft white. Or if you want to go big style you can make a 6x6 frame out of PVC and put a white sheet over it. Anyway I could go on but I will shut up now.

Exactly agreed. On Zombie Hunter, all we had with us was Flex-Fills, and when the wind blew, so did the shot. No more flexible reflectors! (indoors they're okay, outdoors they're useless!)

I keep a set of them (gold, silver, white, diffusion) in my trunk AT ALL TIMES. They've saved my butt on so many occasions it's ridiculous.

They're not quite useless outdoors if properly set up - I use C-stands with an extra arm to hold both ends of the photo flex taught, and that's held still even in big winds.
