I need to purchase a sound package asap as I am working on a no-budge doc.

Oktava or AT-897?

Also, I haven't a clue which accessories I need- cables??? So I buy the mic and then what? Do I need something to make it stay on top of the DVX or will it just slide right on top and stay there? Please let me know specifically what I need to purchase (please be specific) to have my shotgun record sound as it sits on top (I know this is not advised but I am a one man band).

I really appreciate any advice you could give for I am very ignorant about sound. Thanks!!!

Hmm cables may be nice, if its going to be on cam. the length should probably be around 18" cable its not a set length that it needs to be that but, don't get it to long.

The camera already comes with a mic. holder that you just assemble and screw on.

I dont know of anything else is needed, I have a boompole and shockmount but your one man crew so this maybe for another time.
