Advice on Konvas 1KCP 35mm Camera

I just picked up a Konvas 1KCP 35mm film camera with a set of 8 Lomo lenses. The camera and lenses are both in excellent condition. However, I can't tell if the mounts are OCT18, OCT19 or some type of Russian Arri knockoff.

Any advice on what to look for to be able to tell which mount they might be? I'd love to use the lenses on my Brevis but I'm not sure what I might need to make them work.

Here are some pics, but I"m going to try to take some closeups of the mounts to post. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

The best way we can help you, is if you provide some info for us.

1) The lenses you have fit in the camera, right? If so, please tell us as much as you can about the lenses, make, length, minimum aperture, etc.
2) Provide a photograph of the lens port w/o a cover.
3) If possible, provide a second photograph of the lens port with a ruler, in metric, for size purposes.

Knowing these facts would make it MUCH easier.

PS: The reason for a ruler, was not to long ago someone came asking about what type of mount this lens they had was... it looked just like a B4 mount, but in actuality turned out to be a Mini BNCR for CP16 cameras. The only difference really was the size of the mount, not the design.

Just a quick reply before I head out door on a shoot:

I took a couple of down and dirty shots of the camera, the Lomo 150 lens and the mount. I will try to get some better shots tomorrow of the mount with a ruler to show size.

This lens is a Lomo 150 2.8 (OKC1-150-1) Serial # 840033.

Thanks...

Michael

Thanks for the pictures. My guess at this time is either Oct 18 or 19. It does not appear the camera has been modified for a PL mount, therefore if the lenses fit in the camera, as it is now, they should be Oct 18 or 19.

18 and 19 do look different from each other, but I am not well versed enough to tell which is which. Check the diameter of the mount, this is what is going to tell you which it is.

The Oct 18 lens mount diameter should be around 47mm
The Oct 19 lens mount diameter should be around 68mm.

Again, if the camera looks modified, let me know, but from what I can see, nothing was 'Americanized' but rather just works similar to the PL or Arri Standard. Also, if the diameter does not match either of those two numbers perhaps we are looking at another odd PL or Standard knock off. Either way (as long as the cam was not modified) those lenses will not work in PL or Arri standard mounts, nor will PL or Arri Standard lenses work in the camera.

Edit: For kicks, I'm gonna guess it's a 47mm diameter = an Oct 18.

Edit: #2: I really think it is (47mm) Oct 18. I just read that the Konvas 2m, the generation after yours switched to a single lens design using Oct 19 mount vs the previous turrent based Oct 18's.

Get that tape measure out!

Your camera is a Konvas 1m which is OCT 18 mount. You can use those lenses on the Brevis or other 35mm adapter with a PL mount. The OCT 18 lenses are adaptable to PL (or OCT 19) with some limitations.

Good luck- The Konvas is a great camera. I have several.

Yeah, limitations are you cannot use a follow focus on OCT 18 lenses using a 35mm adapter. Sux..

I also have OCT-18 lenses that are in excellent condition and will be using them with a Letus Ultimate in the coming weeks.

FYI- I've spoken with Aaron at Letus and he says if there are enough users and interest he will talk to Hien about the possibility of making an OCT-18 mount for the Letus. So make some noise OCT-18 lens peps!

Thanks guys. This LOMO set is in excellent shape. I'd like to be able to use them with my Brevis, but I don't think I want to permanently change the mounts since I would like to use them on my Konvas as well.

Thanks again,

Michael
