Advice on how much to charge

I have a client who wants me to shoot 7 high school football games (in HD) and then make a college recruiting highlight video from that.

I also only have 1 16gb P2 card and told them that I will only be able to hold 40minutes per game which they seemed ok with. Any advice?

Thanks

a) Determine how much your normal day rate should be, then charge a half-day rate for each game-day shoot.

b) Pick up a bigger P2 card.

Or get a small intermediate card and have a laptop to offload to. Or a Firestore.

You should charge what you're going to get paid. Sorry, but that's the best answer there is. A lot of shooters I've seen charge $20-$25 per hour, a lot ask a lot more, some less, some by job and so forth. Pricing is a marketing tool. You want to charge something your clients will pay without holding a grudge, but also enough so that you are making a decent amount, counting benefits other than cash. There are so many variables that only you know the answer.

Well here's what I went with, there are no benefits to this other than cash payment. I am charging $125 per game and $500 for the final edited highlight video. I thought about charging an hourly, however it would add up to more than I feel like they would feel comfortable paying. Does this seem about appropriate?

If they went with it (which it sounds like they did?) then it was appropriate ;). It's such a huge variance in scale based on your experience, life needs, friendships with the client, etc.
