Advice for Shots from Helicopter/Float Plane

Hi Guys,
I have to shoot from a helicopter and probably a float plane this weekend and wondering if there are any suggestions out there. My plan right now is to rig one camera to the outer part of the landing struts and have the other camera inside the cabin shooting out of the window. Apparently with the float plane, you can take one of the rear doors off and shoot from there.

Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers

My only suggestion is to wear a parachute ! :D

Won't the vibration from the craft be excessive? I've seen some footage mounted to aircrafts and its always seems shaky and jerky to me. Wouldn't you need some type of stabilizer system for the shots to really look smooth?

haha! I found some more info. Attaching a camera to the landing struts will probably be out of the equation. I need to shoot with the door open and have a harness on.

I shot from a float plane on Vancouver Island a few ago, here's a few tips:

Take the door off. If you haven't got a gyro stabiliser use the cockpit as a wind break. It will be pretty limited, but you'll get a shot. Stabilise your footage in post.

Definitely wear a harness!

Shoot wide at high shutter speed - 1/80th or 1/100th.

Check your local health and safety law.
