Advice for setting up two flags to block light

I want to set two of these flags to block some window light in a semi permanent location that will be used for photos and video. I’d prefer to not have to setup another C Stand to do it. Does anyone have any suggestions for doing this without a C Stand/light stand? I put a tennis ball on the bottom of both of them and stood them both up next to each other and this works at this height level for blocking the light, though they do not stay, thus I am looking for suggestions. I also tried clamping the two together. Thanks for any suggestions. I can't really hang anything in front of the windows to block the window light. flag.jpgflag.jpg

Thank you.

A picture of the room/window with the flags as you are currently using them will help visualize the problem.

I was wondering the same, but he said he can't hang anything in front of the window. That's why I asked for pictures.

Sorry for not responding sooner. I will try and get a picture uploaded later.

In general, what are your thoughts on:

a.) taping duvetyne or thick black visqueen to the wall in front of the window

VS.

b.) Using a C-Stand with a Gobo arm and hanging a sound blanket with shower curtain rings to the grommet holes (I'd prefer to not need to use a C-Stand though, but am open to it)

I've never worked with duvetune or thick black visqueen, so just looking for pros/cons. I would likely need to take it down and put it back up before and after every shoot.

Thanks!

It really shouldnt take long (5 mins?) to put up two c stands and hang something off them each time. As long as whatever it is is opaque and blocke the entire window (may even go a little wider/higher/lower than the window to account for the fact that stands will place whatever you hang some actual distance out from the window and not right up against it), you should be good. If you need it “airtight”...i.e. no light at all leaking around the edges thats a different story.

If possible, clamp or tape it from the outside. You really dont want to be putting gaff tape on any walls. Paper tape wont hold it up all day. if the window has any blinds wedge in between. Anytime I can avoid having setting up a stand im going with the easiest solution. It just gets in the way its tripping hazard. Especially if its in a nice home. Then you have to use a sound blanket or tennis balls. They all work why make it hard?

Cut a piece of coroplast to the exact size of the window frame, or maybe a hair oversized, and wedge it in there. 100 percent opaque, rigid, lightweight, reusable, probably no need to tape it up.
