advice for lighting a sequence

I'm making a suspense/murder short and one of the sequences is going to be shot at a small nearby lake in the middle of my city. there's grassy knolls, trees, the lake, a bunch of ducks - it's gorgeous. the character will be there trying to clear his mind because he has just found out his girlfriend is cheating on him. here's the kicker...I want to shoot it at night. this character existing in darkness is a huge thematic element in my film and it's pretty imperative that it is shot either in the middle of the night or very, very early morning. the problem? there are no AC outlets at this lake. so...how do I light it?

Generator or batteries are about the only ways if there aren't AC outlets within reach of extension cords. You'll need to use as efficient of lights as you can like HMI for longer throw or fluorescent for up close. LEDS would also work at night as long as the throw isn't too far.
