Advice for a Lighting Kit

I know this question must have been asked tons of times, though I just want to see if my criteria makes any difference. I will be shooting with the HVX-200, so I think the lighting for HD might need to be slightly different from the DVX or other cameras?

- the video will mainly be interviews
- other video will be of instructional demonstrations that might be zoomed in shots, or zoomed out shots of assembling something or performing a series of steps
- I want to spend around $4k

Thanks.

Unless everything is perfect in your set and your people have super perfect complexions, soft lighting is the main thing needed for HD. It's simply more flattering for most people. Just use the normal fresnels for background and rim lighting. Fluorescent units or tungsten softboxes would be the choice for the soft lighting.

Do you have any suggestions as to specific models or kits? I am really new to all of this and have a budget to spend for work and have to spend it asap. Thanks for any help!

You can take a look at our 2x55w fluorescent Softlight:

http://www.coollights.biz/cl255-cool-lights-watt-fluorescent-video-soft-light-p-30.html

Which can give you around 440w of light for drawing only 110w and is available with your choice of 3200K (for blending with other tungsten instruments) or 5600K lamps (for blending with daylight or other daylight colored instruments). We would normally have a 4 and 6 bulb version but we're out of stock at the moment.

or for a purely daylight colored softbox solution, the CL-SFT1 Fluorescent Softbox fixture:

with this bulb:

and this softbox:

We'll have some other solutions coming but not till the fall sometime.
