Sound Modulator
I've said this before... I have zero brand loyalty... so when something is good I like it and that's the end of it.
This past week I bought and returned 3 different cordless phones. Each time you get a new one you can't use it for the better part of a day... if not 20 hours... so you don't know what you have until the next day! Cordless phones have been a funny thing for me since the first one I ever had... some 15 years ago almost. I've had Sony, Northwestern, Panasonics, Unidens, and Motorola.
It is hard to find a really good cordless phone that does everything right... especially at any price under $100.
I currently have a 900mHz Panny that I got 5 years ago when 900 was state of the art... and I've been happy with it, but the earpiece never went loud enough. You couldn't pay anything less then full attention to the phone if you wanted to follow a conversation. I've nearly had arguments with my GF because I keep saying SPEAK UP! On speaker it was fine... but still a little soft. This phone was around $120 in it's day.
This week I had another phone line put in... totally seperate from the rest of the house and I wanted something cheaper, but still cordless. Because of the weak ear volume (and my brother has Unidens that are plenty loud) I decided to try a Uniden "economy" model for $40. (5580) Well this phone is super-loud, but it was a POS. So I returned it and got a Panny. 2 phones + AM at 2.4 and $70 at Costco. Everything about Panny oozes quality... you gotta' love how they feel and look and all the little touches... so once again I wait nearly the full day for them to be charged... and D'oh! The ear volume is SO quiet again! Sure it's FUNCTIONAL... but you can't type on the net or do anything but pay attention to the call... and on speaker it's just as bad. TOO QUIET!
So I decide that maybe I'll try a higher end Uniden. I returned the Panny set to Costco and got the Uniden TRU 8860 for the same price... lost the answering machine but went from 2.4 to 5.8.
I am freaked out at how good these things are! I've had probably a dozen cordless phones in my life and I finally feel like somebody got it right. Everything about these phones is exactly perfect... they do all sorts of cool things that I never thought of but I'd never want to do without and the sound is off the charts. They sound exactly like our wired phones.
I'm sure many of you aren't as picky about sound as I am... but if you know me then you understand this post. Sound is EVERYTHING to me! I just wanted to give a head's up in case anybody else is looking at a new cordless... these things have won me over in spades!
