Advance Pulldown not removed from tape on capture-problem??!

Hello all,

So I'm trying to capture footage from a tape that was shot at 24pa.
Using fcp 4.5, top of the line g5 8g memory, etc. When I try to capture footage from using the advance pull down removal settings, 29.97 capture, to edit in 23.98 timeline, the clips end up being 29.97, the pull down NOT removed.
What am I doing wrong here?
Is there a way to test this, say if it was shot at 24p and not 24pa, and see if that is the problem.
I'm confused about this.
Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

justin

Step through the clips frame by frame. 24pA has an interlaced frame every 5 frames. 24p has them more often.

I think that is it. It wasn't shot in 24pa, but 24p. Also changing the counter on the camera while running the tape you can see the 24p, sans the (a). damn.
So now my question is, what do I do if all my footage is 24pa, except this one scene.
Is this going to cause me major problems later when trying to output the whole show?
How do I procede?
Thanks... :undecided

Use Cinema Tools to convert 24p to 23.98 clip. Place this into FCP.
Check help files in FCP and CInema Tools.
Once it's been converted and edited in the sequence it'll be able to be output as one with the sequence.
