Adult ADD...?

no...best line in tombstone...

Billy Clanton: Why, it's the drunk piano player. You're so drunk, you can't hit nothin'. In fact, you're probably seeing double.
[Billy Clanton draws a knife, and Doc Holliday takes out a second gun]
Doc Holliday: I have two guns, one for each of ya.

Adult ADD? Seasonal Depression? Do we really need to make a disease out of everything? I ain't tryin' to start a flame war here, but honestly....I just think its silly. When I was in high school I tested "Borderline" for ADD (relatively new at the time) cuz I "couldn't" do my work. My PSYCHOLOGIST (not supposed to prescribe drugs) gave me ritalin and I REALLY wanted them to work. After I thought about it, I realized I wanted to have something to blame my problem on and there was ADD. Good, it's not my fault...it's a chemical imbalance in my brain that causes me to be interested in other things besides boring schoolwork. Sorry for the rant, I just think pretty soon everybody will have some disorder or "disease" (and be duly medicated) and maybe THEN we can solve our real problems...maybe.

Ritalin is great drug. Maybe not for everyone...I mean, I wish that they'd stop prescribing it to kids seeing as it is pretty much Pharmaceutical cocaine, but if you are looking for a focus drug....wow ritalin does the trick. Esp the once a day version they have now. It's scary effective.

There is a new drug called aderol that is frof ADHD that apparently makes ritalin look like tic-taks - but it's hard to come by seeing as kids keep having strokes on it.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get this stuff- if your curious just go ask your doctor for it. It's not against the law.

You're not alone Zach. It's really hard to talk about a topic like this because people get SO mad about it. I would never really assume that I know more about what a person's problems are than them. I just don't know if magic medicine is the cure. Like I said, I felt like I did have it, and I wanted to be cured of it. Every single person learns and understands the world in a different way. So who dictates when that method of learning/understanding (or mislearning/misunderstanding) becomes a "disease" or a disorder? I think people should do whatever works for them. But to me, when these young kids are prescribed with these low-grade amphetamines for ADHD, its a scapegoat. Parents and teachers no longer have to deal with the kid who's going buckwild. In my opinion, he/she just needs a different form of mental stimulation. Of course, that's difficult in our society. Should these kids all be schooled individually? No, I agree that's crazy. But of course these kids (and adults) have ADD. Have you watched TV lately, been on the internet? As a generation, we process more information in a day than any other before us. The drugs just seem like a knee-jerk reaction to a problem that maybe we should pay some more attention to, instead of providing a quick fix.

Yes.. very good point Ryan.. I have a feeling that that amount of info shoved down our throats in one day probally has something to do with it.

That, and how insanely connected we are to the rest of the world. It's like no one ever gets their own quiet/alone time anymore with pagers (well, actually does anyone still use pagers?), cell phones, blackberry's, wireless internet, fax, etc ...

I'm sure I'd go stir-crazy, but sometimes I fantasize about living with the Amish. Work your ass off building a barn, take a break & stuff your face full of good home made food, go back to busting your ass on your neighbor's barn, then kick it easy with your family afterwards reading by the lantern, etc.

Thats true. The drug companys pretty much invent all this poo poo (lol) to make money.

My folks thought I had it back in my middleschool days (I'm sure I did/do). I was on Ritalin and Adderol. It's an upper for some, a downer for others. Either way it's craaaaaazy!

Only drug i'm on right now is when my lil baby girl looks up at me. Can't get enough!!! :)
