I would say PC is the better choice at this time. Only because there are no Mac versions of the Serious Magic software Adobe recently aquired, DV Rack (now On Location) and Ultra which are included in the Production Premium Suite.

lol. Yeah, I would suggest you go with a PC too. Cheaper hardware / easier to upgrade being only one of the advantages.

Im not sure if its just me, but after effects CS3 seems to run like molasses on the 24" Imac at school, while it screams on my PC at home.

I struggled with the PC/Apple question considerably, finally deciding to build a PC myself. However, had I gone with Apple, I almost certainly would have opted for FCP.

Build a custom pc with lots of ram and atleast a 64bit dual core processor.
