Adobe Media Encoder / Canopus problem

Im using Pro1.0

For the past while ive been running into problems with Adobe Media Encoder. My Premiere completely becomes unresponsive and crashes when selecting the DVD section. All the other encoder selections works fine except MPeg DVD stuff. It will work for awhile but then stop working. Ive had to un-install and re-install Pro many times for it to work!

I also have Canopus Procoder 1.5 as a preset in my Prem. HOwever that also doesn’t work when I export directly from my premiere timeline. After selecting "target" and then "convert" in Procoder.. I get an error message and get kick back into the Premiere. I'm then forced the export my timeline as an AVI. and separately import back into Procoder to encode to DVD, web etc...

Re: Adobe Media Encoder / Canopus problem

I'm a Canopus user too, and as I'm sure you well know there are a number of issues with the combo - and it doesn't help that Canopus has discontinued development for the whole Storm/Premiere combo. I think it's even worse with the PPro 1.0 as they only half heartedly developed drivers for before jumping to 1.5.

The only export issues I have (with PPro 1.5) is that luminance levels are wrong whether using the hardware encoder or Procoder Express. No crashes. Seems there were crashing issues or some such with the drivers for 1.0. You'd have to check the Canopus site for sure.

Whenever I start having problems while using Canopus hardware with Premiere I end up dumping the Premiere pref file. Often clears things up. I suspect it's driver and plugin issues for you though.

If you already haven't done it, go to the Canopus site and make sure you have the latest drivers (which are pretty old now) for PPro 1.0. Check the limitations for the driver set to verify if there are export issues related to the encoder. Short of upgrading to PPro 1.5 you may be stuck with your current workarounds.

Re: Adobe Media Encoder / Canopus problem

I just got Procoder 2.0 and i'll see if that works... I was also on the adobe site and seems that there are several issues with procoder 1.5 and Premiere Pro. Ive actually down graded from Premiere 1.5 to 1.0 because of that Stupid "24p normal problem"

Re: Adobe Media Encoder / Canopus problem

I have ProCoder 2 (though I don't use it too much anymore) and PPro, and it works great, so that should fix your problem.
