Adobe Encore and the Curse of Broken DVDs

Here's the question. How often do the DVDs you are burning fail (as in error messge pops up) and/or not work on when you try to play them on your DVD player? I have what seems to be an unreasonably high rate of failure on burning DVDs. At least half the time it plain doesn't work and many of the times the DVDs skip when you play them? Any advice?
 
Using encore for 1 year and I think I've had 1 failure (disc wouldnt burn or something) and we burn with it quite often.
