Does anyonone have any experience using both of these two...is there anything about Boris Title Toolkit that makes it a handsdown must have plugin for Premiere Pro CS4?
I'll preface this with the note that I don't have Premiere but use Vegas (but I do use Adobe CS4 Design Premium -- thinking about adding the Prodction set for its P2 capability).
I use Boris Red 4.3 (and Blue) for compositing but the text capabilities are where the program really earns its keep. I find the text capabilities outstanding and really add tremendously for the types of projects I do (mostly corporate). Boris works as a plug-in as well so you can work right in PP. If you are only creating titles for short films and such I wouldn't bother. But if your work includes lots of video and still images with text overlays you'll love the options and flexibility that Boris offers. The presets are also invaluable. I just had a project where the client handed me a long client list that they wanted to scroll at the end of the video and fade into their corporate logo. With Boris it took just seconds to do and it looks perfect. It was also easy to go back and adjust the speed until the client was happy.
BorisFX.com has trial downloads and that's the best way to find out if it works for you. Don't let the Boris interface throw you, either. It is actually very easy to use once you work with it a little. One small tip, use the small slider in the keyframe area to stretch the keyframe timeline (zooms in) so that you can get your keyframes to sync exactly.
You might also check out the native plug-ins that Boris makes for Adobe. Haven't used them but being able to add filters right into the interface is very cool.
