Adobe acquired Serious Magic

I would be surprised to see Adobe incorporate DVrack and Ultra into Premiere. They may cross-pollenate some of the technology but I think both products are unique and strong enough to stand on their own.

If you look at Adobe's current video suite (and other suites), they seem to prefer keeping distinct applications separated and provide integration between them. That way they can sell each application separately or in bundles. Personally I like that approach versus trying to make a kitchen-sink type product.

Now one thing they may incorporate into Premiere Pro is the new DVCProHD Decoder that Serious Magic just released. The head of SM said that this acquisition has been in the works for a while, something like 18 months. Maybe this is why native support for DVCProHD was missing from PPro 2.0.

we could only hope that they would incorporate the decoder for naitive DVCpro HD support. even in an update to 2.0 would be nice. as the press release denotes:

"Adobe plans to continue to sell Serious Magic's products and future versions of Adobe's video solutions will include Serious Magic technologies and software."

which will be nice if they add in the realtime recording to PPRO and DVCPRO HD decoding functionality to PPRO and AE. I would think that its not a stretch for them to stick it in there, and hopfully assume we'll see naitive suport in the future.
