hi, I need to know if there is a way to make an adjust layer not a affect 1 layer in the comp?

You can mask. Im pretty sure if its above whatever layer, it will be affected.

what are you trying to do?

What ever layer(s) that is below the adjustment layer will be affected. You will need to nest your comps. if you dont want it affecting layers below your intended layer.

You can take the layer you don't want affected and use it as a inverted alpha track matte for the adjustment layer.

I am actually having a similar problem.

I have a normal avi file video running as a comp below a few white solids with the advanced lightning effect on them. I then created 4 adjustment layers for effects and high levels of blur.

Now my problem is I can't stop the adjustment layers from affecting the base video file; I just want them to affect the lightning.

I tried pre-composing all the layers, but the lightning won't show up.

If you click the continuously rasterize/show through edits button (the asterisk near the shy layers switch), it should allow the attributes of your lightning precomp to render through to your main comp. Hopefully that will work if everything in your precomp is positioned properly.

I just tried the continuous rasterization function. The lightning showed up, but the blur and distortion effects from the adjustment layers also showed up, resulting in that same mess of blur and glow all over my bottom comp.
