Hi all,

i recently made a series of web based training videos for a client which appear on their website.

they have just contacted me to ask if i could supply them with duplicate versions of the videos with the addition of subtitles to cater for their hard of hearing visitors, but im struggling to find a non time consuming method of doing this, lol

i have Adobe Creative Suite CS5 Production Premium and use Premiere Pro CS5 / After Effects CS5 for editing. as far as i can see my only option is to create a ton of text titles and then sync them up with the audio, but this will probably take longer than what the original video took to create! lol

i know Premiere Pro has the speech recognition, but ive just tested it on one small clip and it basically transcribes it as nonsensical gibberish! and even then i dont think its possible to create captions from said gibberish :(

if i was creating a DVD then i believe it would be possible to create subtitles in Encore, but then they would only appear when played on a DVD player.........as my work revolves around web based videos this isnt really of much use to me

so if anyone has any suggestions then please advise! :D

cheers

If this is a paid gig, then you should find a court reporter, or realtime captioner to transcribe the video audio, to provide a 'human' readable transcription. There are tools that assist in then creating the synchronized caption 'output'.

I've seen the following company at NAB several years running. But I've never used their software, so mileage may vary...

www.cpcweb.com

Their broshure lists several features that may assist in conforming the transcriptions to the video.
