Adding 'movement' to still images so that they look like they're apart of the video.

If I overlay an image over some video, it has a static feel as though I simply put a still image over video... which is what I did. Is there a way to add some sort of lighting effect to it so that it seems like shadows are passing over it on occasion (if it's outside, it would seem like clouds are above changing the lighting). Or maybe I should just add some grain.

this is what i'm doing. I have the newly created street signs. They look fine in still form, but they're just way too static when put ontop of the video. thoughts?

Yeah, try adding gain or noise to match the video. You can even digitally zoom in a touch and add a little digital camera shake to really sell it.

It should be fine then.

if it is moving try to use tracking and, use some expressions to add some colour corr.
