Adding Grit/Grain

Hi,

I was trying to add a bit of a grit/grainy look to some footage, but when I do, it looks how I like on a still frame, but when viewing it in motion it seems to animate funny.

I've tried 'grain' (animate setting 'on' and 'off'), Film Effects (which gave similar effects as the 'grain' feature), and also tried FILM GRAIN, which seemed to add more of a blochey effect than a grainy one.

Here's a screen grab... the grab shows the look I want:

Here's original screen grab for reference:

And here's a link to the video file showing how the noise/grain animates funny. (2megs)

Anyone have any special techniques that may work?
It may be possible I can not achieve this effect properly while in motion.. which is o.k., but thought I'd check with ya'll.

Thanks,

James

Thanks, just wanted to make sure that what it should look like.

It's pretty hard to describe what I was trying to do, but basically I was trying to give the "edges" of the objects a grit/grainy looks, and not the fill or dark areas of them.

Here... this is another object (some sorta bird house), and you can really see the noise on the roof top as the video plays. But maybe it is ok.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

(On a side note, it's interesting how much larger the 'noise/grain' effect makes the video that without it. That same file rendered out as normal B&W is only 0.7megs in size)
