want to prerecord an actual facetime video to be added into a shot in post. searching and not really finding anything recently on apps that will record facetime video. there seems to be a bunch in the app store but not sure of which are worth a flip

anyone have some experience with a good app to use for this process?

the final shot will consist of actor 1 sitting at a desk looking and speaking into ipad with cuts of the front of the ipad with the facetime video of actor 2 added throughout the shot.

thanks much

So you need an IPad app? I don’t think you’d need anything Facetime-specific, just a generic screen recording app which also records audio.

probably so, we did not know if facetime had some special app that will record video and sound well. we all have droids and are not familiar with ipad apps.

anyone use one of these apps and can recommend it? looking to get a video/audio file from the app that can go into our timeline in post.

Not sure why you'd need an actual FaceTime video, if you're planning to add it in post anyway. It'll be easier just to fake it. The result will probably be better, too.

Yeah, if you only want to add it to the IPad in post, you may as well record it on a PC running facetime - there are plenty of PC screen recorder programs.
