g day!
does anybody have experience with hooking up a self made 35mm adapter to the body of a cam with interchangeable lenses.
i remember to have seen a p+s adapter screwed straight to the body of a jvc.
how would you have to modify the "common" setup in order to benefit most of less light loss?

so far i have only seen this with the p+s system.
if you take a look at redrock´s site you will find the adapter sitting in front of the canon lens(xl models).
i´m wondering what kind of glass you need in between the body and the screen as you don´t have any lens to focus. usually the adapters start with an achromat.
why on earth would you want to use a hig tech zoom lens only to focus on the adapters screen. would´t it save light and of course weight to find a solution if you have the chance to hook your adapter straight to the body.

There must be a lens in place; the mini35 uses a special-purpose relay lens. You can't put an adapter in front of a cam's CCDs and expect it to work; there has to be a lens to focus the ground glass image onto the CCDs. Quyen Le with the Letus35 has developed some relay lenses, but I don't know of any other low-cost adapter which has.

as i´m trying to built my own i´m in search of somebody how has hands on experience in building one of these and would like to share his knowledge.
do i still need the achromat sitting behind the lens in order to focus accuratly on to the screen?
could you think of only one glas that would solve the problem?

You either need the achromat attached onto the primary lens, or you need to replace the primary lens with a macro lens. A B4-mount macro lens costs $6,000.

6000,- ? ufffff !
there must be a cheaper while quality wise good way of handeling this. letus is selling their solution(xl) for 900.-. does anybody know their setup ?

Maybe this information is for Canon XL owners very interesting .
If found this some time ago on the net. Build yourself a relay-lens for your Canon XL. I dont have more info about this. Also I dont have a Canon XL camera to check it for myself.
