Adapter setup - is it a nightmare???

I'm planning on shooting with my HVX and a Brevis 35 but am a little tentative to do so.

Is it really that hard to figure out how to get a nice image?

Also, can I shoot without a rod support system while using the brevis, the flip mod, and lens???

THanks

The Brevis isn't that hard to setup. It requires that you fiddle with some of the screws to get it to align properly, but once you do it once repeating the setup process is fairly easy. Just don't leave it till the last minute. ;)

Yes, you can shoot without the support system, but I wouldn't recommend it for extended time periods.

Just don't forget to turn the unit on when you are shooting (I forgot on my first shoot a few backs for some of the shots so had to fix it up a bit in post)! ;)

If you have never shot with an adapter before, I would suggest not shooting anything critical with it until you have a couple hours of un-important shooting under your belt. There are so many things that could go wrong. Shooting with an adapter can be very unforgiving, you really have to know what you're doing with it if you want good results.

as far as using the brevis with the flip, you will need a rail system to support the adapter, it's to much weight for the camera otherwise.

I don't want to scare you away from using an adapter, it's just not really a bolt on and shoot piece of gear. It takes time to really learn how to use them properly.

I agree completely.

Do like Dennis says and watch the tutorials. It really isn't hard to setup the brevis and get a good image at all. I've done it on many cameras many times, it's really quick. In my opinion using any flipped adapter without rods is an accident waiting to happen. Even the cheapest rails are better than nothing but you can't go wrong with the proteus rails.

... and when you see what we've got coming as a Proteus rails accessory, you'll be very happy that you have a set :-) This part is designed for folks wanting to make a tripod rig a lot more portable. It's not our shoulder rig, but will complement the entire system.

You'll see a product announcement in a week or so.

I will echo some of what has already been said. I would seriously advise you against using an adapter for critical work until you have had plenty of time to play with it. It's a whole different approach to shooting than using the native lens of your camera.

I can guarantee you that if you just slap it on your camera and hope for the best, your footage will potentially look really, really bad.
