Adapter cable for Senn G2 wireless transmitter

Greetings...

I'm wondering if anyone else has made up a XLR -> Mini Plug adapter to use a regular mic with a Sennheiser G2 wireless transmitter, instead of the ME2/4 lav mic?

I connected the stereo mini plug TIP to XLR (2) connection and mini plug SHIELD to XLR (1)+(3) connections. This would be an unbalanced connection, and I'm not sure if there is a balanced connection method using the mini plug RING connection.

I believe the RING connection provides power to the ME2/4 lav mics, but is not compatible with other phantom power mics.

Please comment if there is a way to support other phantom powered mics or maintain a balanced connection to the transmitter.

I might note this DIY adapter seems like a reasonable alternative to buying a SKP100 or SKP500 plug-in.

You do know that the Tx does not provide phantom power for your mic, so you will still need to get a phantom power supply or rely on one of the mics that has a built-in battery.

You can also just buy this cable - Sennheiser sells various flavors of their cables (as does Trew and B&H). If you do make your own, don't forget to use a locking 3.5mm plug.

never buy the cable made by sennheiser - pease of **** , make your own one with normal connectors

Oleg 2... Thank you for the correction. The unbalanced wiring is indeed (2) & (1) + (3).

Can you recommend a source for the locking mini plug connectors?
