actual frame size for 35mm film

[snodart]

After taking into account room for the perforations and various types of soundtrack info, what is the typical frame width of 35mm film?

My guess would be around 24-25mm?

:dankk2:

Oh, and why does the text size change when I spell check this post?
And while i'm at it, what's with the mysterious closing image tag? </IMG>?

4 perf 35mm uses a gate that is 22mm x 18.6mm

That's the full 4x3 frame size; when shooting 1.85 you mask it (yes film gets basically "letterboxed") to about 22x12mm.

In Super35, which uses the full width, you get about 24mm wide.

Excellent. Thank you both!
