I am coming up to my shoot dates very soon.. as in this sunday is day 1 of principal photography.
I am a student at the Toronto Film School right now, and our school has a deal with ACTRA.. but my school has been giving me the run around on the procedure of how to cast union actors in a non-paying role.
Does anyone have experience with this? in the Toronto Area?
I was initially told that I had to just get a letter from the actor stating that they are allowed to be part of the non-paying production.
but..
One of my leads (who is a union member) and many others that auditioned, said that I must first register my production with ACTRA, and have my producer do the necessary paperwork.
I am inclined to believe my actors over my inane moronic school.. but I have never casted union actors before...
so if there is anyone that could point me to the path for getting my production registered.. that would be great... I was on the actra toronto site and didn't see anything about "registering" with actra... so maybe I am blind..
but anywho, any info on this would be great.
