This is meant to be funny, but I think it does a good job at illuminating story interactions (or at least plotting action.)

I have made maps as pre-screenplay writing preparation so I envision where the hero travels, what he encounters, etc... so for me it makes sense. My maps are different, they resemble an actual physical map with the above somewhat overlaid upon it and divided up by scenes/sequences. Who said story telling has to be made from words only.

I do a slightly different version with the (linear) movie timeline on one side and the action timeline (non linear) on the other side.
