'Acting'

Anyone else like to see 'acting' as a section rather than getting lumped in with 'directing'?

I think this is a great idea. Definitley as important as the other areas such as light and sound.

I think having a section would also give actors a way to meet film makers.

I kind of like the two sharing space, because it's the synthesis of acting and direction that usually makes for a final product. Sure, there are films with directors minus actors, and I guess there are probably films where the actors were not directed, but usually one without the other gives you nothing.

You definitely make a good point Sad Max, which is why I didn't bring this up long ago. But, I just feel that acting is too broad of a subject to lump it in with 'Directing'.

I agree with Sad Max. Camerawork, sound design, and writing can (but not always are) be seperated from what a director focuses on. If there's anything that should be discussed on the director's board, I think it should be actor related.

Plus it's not like there's a limit to how many topics can be open on one board.

Interesting in this is turning into a thread about what a director does. Fair enough, working with actors is a major part of it, but I think there is enough going on apart from the director interaction that warrants it, much like cinematography
