The ACS manual is basically an advertising scheme for Panavision and is lacking in relevant data.

David Samuelson's "Hands On" Manual for Cinematographers is better IMO:

What would you say is the ASC manual lacking that the others have.... just wondering... I found it to be a pretty good reference guide....

I honestly can't even remember. The last time I bought one (was the first time), about 3 years ago and I just remember being really disappointed by it. I got rid of it and bought the Samuelson book and it seemed to have everything I needed.

It's not even like I was looking for anything weird, just some basic stuff and all I remember seeing were these full page ads for Panavision and excessive references to Panavision in the reference material.
