Hello,
I am mostly a sculptor, but have recently been getting into creating some video art/ projection pieces. Since I am new at this, I would be grateful for a little steering in the right direction, and don't wish to incite a full on debate.

I am looking to create a piece where I shoot all the raw footage. I would then have a playback device + a projector mounted near the ceiling (about 8Ft up), and projecting onto a wall which may be about 8-10ft away. The image would be about 5FT X 8FT or so. I am looking for the absolute maximum resolution I can possibly get. Below is a list of what I already have, budgetary considerations, plus a question or two. Thank you in advance!

Camera:
Already have: Panasonic GH1.

Computer:
Already have: Macbook Pro 2.8GHz, 4Gb RAM Core Duo from 2009. Configured as dual boot into Windows7 64bit with bootcamp or Snow Leopard. I also have an AMD Athlon 64 4200+ Windows XP machine from about 5 years ago w 2Gb ram as a second machine.

Software:
NEED: Software to edit video. I plan on hacking my GH1 to get a higher bitrate, and plan to shoot in 1080 24p AVCHD. Video files may be between 10 and 45 minutes long.
QUESTION: Which software (<$1000) would be best to edit AVCHD files most easily. Should I use the mac or windows side of my macbook?

Projector:
As mentioned, I am looking for the most pristine image I can afford. I am hoping not to go more than $1500, but I suppose I can go $2K if needed. Projector must be able to project 1080p. Need 5FT X 8FT image from 8FT away. I was thinking Panasonic PT AE4000U. Any comments or other recommendations? Willing to go used item on Ebay to save if necessary.

Playback:
The playback device will be mounted in the ceiling next to the projector. Should I use a blu ray player? Or SS device? It seems that many playback units are limited in bitrate. I would like to have something that can handle up to 100mb/s. Using the GH1 hacked patches, I should be able to shoot upwards of 50 without a problem. Comments, suggestions? I really hope to not spend more than a few hundred $s on this item

Thanks again. I have searched each topic above individually, but a think a few general suggestions will really speed up the learning curve.
