Acid dissolve effect...

I'm trying to create an effect with the look of acid burning through celluloid...any ideas on how to get this look? I've got AE 6.5 Pro, FCS 5.1, and Shake 4 (although I'm not that familiar with it) to work with...thanks for the help

it should'nt be difficult using plugins like panopticum fire or similar, just play with settings etc to get a acid-burn effect

There is an effects in AE 7 pro that is called CC Burn Film. I don't know if it is in 6.5 pro, but it's exactly what you are looking for.

Yeah, it's in there, it'll work pretty well, but be sure to experiment with it to avoid getting the out of the can look.

The params on it allow you to give it a variety of looks. Try adding "roughen edges" as well.
