Achromat = macro ring?

I am building an adapter and I am aware that having an achromat is important? What about a macro ring instead?

DVX100 -> macro ring attached to camera body..?

Will a macro ring reduce vignette?

A macro ring/lens might eliminate vignetting but will likely introduce a whole host of other issues like CA, edge softness, etc. Take a look at this thread. It's my adventure of building an adapter. I used a macro to start with. Watch the footage and compare the first one, which is with a macro and subsequent footage using a proper achromat. It's like night and day.
