Achieving Ghostlike effect in post

Hello:

I will be using the Canon XL H1 soon and wanted to create a ghostlike effect while shooting some footage. The way i did it with other cameras was i shot at 12fps and slowed down the footage in post. A movie that comes to mind that had this effect was in V for Vendetta near the end of the fight scene. Since the Canon XL H1 can not shoot in anything below 24fps i was wondering if there was another way to get this effect through post?

Thank you

A- Actual slow motion:
Record at as high a frame rate as possible, like 29.97 interlaced (59.97 fields a second).

Slow things down in Vegas.
Other programs do a better job... Twixtor, Shake, etc.

B- You could get your talent to move slowly or stand still. In Vegas, apply lots of motion-blur. I like this effect.

try - drop clip into V and set clip properties ( right click on clip in TL-properties) to under sample at .25 ( or .50 or lower) also check the box "force resample"... now slo-mo ( stretch) the clip to your desire ... add view video bus ( also show envolopes) now add motion blur (right click on video bus track in TL and choose insert/remove envolope= motion blur amount )..slide motion blur(higher up the more blur) to your liking ....

Glen > how does one apply motion blur in Vegas ? I can only see motion blur as gaussian etc as default settings. There seems to be no motion blur effect in the effects panel either. Only blurs which are static and they dont apply on moving objects alone. They simply blur the whole scene. How does one set motion blur settings and values ?? Is it even possible ?

Hey im so sorry i didnt read the last line that donatello posted. Based on that i figured it out. Hmm Thanks so much all of you.

also just to see difference (sometime i prefer no resample) - instead of check box to force resample - check the box do NOT resample ...
