Achieving certain look

Hey guys,
I saw this video and I was wondering if anyone had some insight on how the color grading was done? I really love the way they graded these scenes in particular:

looks like it was converted to black and white and then brought the blue input up slightly in the shadows and a touch in the mid-tones.
that's all it really looks like for the first screen shot.
