Hey I am looking to get lighting, micing and a new lens for shooting these legal videos for this lawfirm's website. I have a budget of around $2000 US and was wondering if anyone could help me out with some ideas. I'm shooting with a DVX100A. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Will u be shooting inside the courtroom only cuz i know here where i live no lites are allowed in the courtroom.

no, these will be a series of shots most likely taking place at the lawfirms offices and different meeting areas.

well then ull need mics, lites, batts and i would suggest in investing in warm cards. and good pair of headphones.

As these are indoor shots I would recommend the following:

Sound:
1/ Microphone - Octava mk012 - about $170 with hypercardioid cap
2/ Rycote softie for mic... cheap.
3/ Boom - $1-200 can get you a decent one for your purpose (good second hand market out there) - also hope you have a boom guy. If not look at some lav options (sennheiser G2 kit will run about $500 from BHPhoto). My first choice would always be a boom and mic.... you could also get a boom arm for mic stand if its a one or two people no movement shot.
4/ Headphones - interestingly for straight from DVX the most expensive arent going to give you the best result. Search the sound forum you should find what I am talking about/

So about $700 gone on either choice here. $1500 left to spend... hmm.

Lighting.
There are a lot of options.... would need to know how its going to be shot. Sit down? Like a drama with some action? I guess at first glance I would suggest trying to get a second hand 3 head set of Arri 600's with barndoors. Then CTB, bounce boards (you can make with foam core). A copy of Walter Graffs headshot DVD $29 from his website. Would probably run you around $1k.

I know then you dont have much for a 35mm adapter. I might consider a polariser, plus an ND.3. Do away with other lenses for the moment. But a lot of these things are about choice in what you creatively want to do with it, so if you have more info there...

Thanks a lot for your help! I really appreciate you spending the time to make that list. Im definitely going to look into everything you mentioned. One question though, I was looking to get a 35mm lens, and which polariser where you referring to, because there are several different brands and sizes.

Without a mattebox, I like the Kenko Circular 72s. But I think this one is only available from Japan

Better of asking about the PL from people in the US I think.

There is also a 35mm adapter thread in this forum somewhere. Run a quick search for 35mm adapter and plenty should come up。。。
