Accurate monitor with focus peaking

So i have been doing a lot more run and gun shooting this week with my d600. I have a cheap 7" monitor that i got used off of ebay. (same model as this one here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peaking-1...mera-Video-Monitor-Kit-HDMI-BNC-/251361248804) and i find with my d600 when i am not rolling i get a 1080i signal. when i am rolling i get 720p60. The resolution drop doesn't really bother me but this display seems to do very odd things with the color, exposure and dynamic range. It makes everything look muddy and i don't even know if i can trust it for focus. (note: the focus peaking when turned off makes everything look incredibly soft and when turned on at f/2.8 basically everything looks in focus.)

Im debating moving to an EVF for field work and using this for a directors monitor or something when im out shooting. In the studio or when i have the room in my kit i bring along a 23" LCD so i don't need a replacement 7" or the like.

Does anybody have any experience with this evf? http://www.ebay.com/itm/PTT-Adjusti...pt=US_Viewfinders_Eyecups&hash=item27ceef6dde

i am wondering how accurate it really is. I don't have much of a budget for a new monitor but i also can't afford to be missing focus on these run and gun shoots.
