@#$%^!!! Accidentally shot 24PA!! Now what?

I've been hired to shoot video of a $6MM home that's for sale, so I really want to make this as sharp as possible. I started out shooting 30P, as this is primarily for the web, but I guess when I exchanged batteries (or turned it off/back on), my scene file defaulted to 24PA ... which I don't know why, since my master pedastal hasn't changed.

Anyway, now I've got a mixture of 30P & 24PA footage. What's best, for me to go ahead and work now in a 24P timeline, or work with my 24PA footage in a 29.97/60i timeline?

I'm guessing I should go 24P timeline, to keep the integrity of the 24PA footage, but wanted to check to see what others thought first.

REALLY!? Didn't expect to hear that. Well, I'd JUST rendered a test file with the 24 timeline, so I'll change the properties now to the 29.97 & give it a render.

Thanks, John.

Wouldnt the 24pA footage get like blurred though if its in a 29.97 timeline?

I still get kinda confused time to time about frame conversions and using different timelines and various frame rates...

That'll introduce pulldown, and he said he wants it primarily for the web.

Two choices I can think of:

1) use the 30p as slightly slow-mo within a 24p timeline, by playing back at 80% speed
2) ditch the 30p stuff and use only the 24p stuff?

The reason this happened is because the scene file settings aren't saved unless you specifically save them. So you changed to 30p, and then when you shut the camera down (to change the battery) the scene file reverted to the last saved position, which is 24pa. Moral of the story is: if you're shooting a project with custom scene file settings, SAVE THOSE SETTINGS.

I'll look through the manual when I get a chance to see how to over write/save the scene setting ... if anyone feels the urge, though, feel free to drop me a quick "how-to".

Otherwise, no worries, I can look it up.

As far as option #2, it kills me to do that, but I may have to reshoot some stuff anyway. Just don't want to look like a moron going out there AGAIN to shoot. I could always blame it on some technical problem that was encountered, which isn't too far from the truth in this case.

I did this when shooting a wedding and forgot to put the dvx in 29.97 to match the other xl1.....Anyway after trying many things, I downloaded the ultimate s demo from vasst and converted the 29.97 to 24 fps and edited in a 24 fps Vegas timeline... Just my 2 cents
