I am in need of an impressive-looking camera on Sept. 16-19th. If you own a video camera (Panasonic, Sony, Canon, really doesn't matter what kind....if its HD even better) and would like to help out a fellow professional, please shoot me a message! The camera will be in great hands....surrounded by people who's sole job will be to make sure its safe.

Basically, the camera that I shoot with (though its a 3 CCD camera, and amazing quality) does not LOOK impressive enough to lend me credibility at a convention. I need something that will read better. I may use it to shoot some of the speeches, etc, but for the most part, it will just be a display.

Some sort of rental fee can definitely be worked out, so please let me know ASAP!!

Thanks!

it's reassuring to know that a group of people will surround the camera to make sure it is safe.

i also want my camera to read better. does anyone have a used copy of 'hooked on phonics' they could lend me?

so basically, you just need a prop to carry around to look cool?

Yeah, they want to look like a pro, because their little handicam is embarrassing them I guess. And don't be quoting this stuff to me, I just found it.

I look at it this way, if what comes out of your camera isn't impressive, it doesn't matter how fancy your camera looks. And If I wanted to accessorize, I would rather have a pair of Redheads ;)

Because I was holding an HVX, the guy who played General Grievous introduced himself to me. So I think this guy is on to something.

my experience is as long as you look like you're supposed to be there noone asks any questions. A big pro-looking camera always helps but it's the attitude that really separates the pros from the ones left outside. My nonchalant why-the-hell-do-you-think-I'm-here-if-not-to-film-the-event attitude has gotten me into places I never should have had access to.

then again, a proper press pass gives you cred more than anything else. and these days a lot of pros are traveling with tiny cameras that look like something my mom would buy anyway so the big camera trick is on it's way out.
