I am filming a feature for which many scenes take place in bathrooms. I need to put together an equipment list that would help me light such a small space. I already have assorted lights but could anyone help me with a list of accessories that will help with this?

thanks very much

I shot a scene in a bathroom once and what we did is used one ari light750 with softbox and hung it overhead with a c stand. and then made some beer can lights to light the shadows. Also I do belive we used a Kino Flo Kamio (ring light to give kid of a spot effect we geld it though

Perhaps a grip stand with at least one arm and foam core for bounce. Then again you could simply aim the fixture into the ceiling and get what you want too. It al depends on the action and where it takes place. In small spaces less is always better so maybe accessories are too much . WHat are you shooting specifically in this setting?

Actually shooting almost every kind of action in a bathroom from shower, to sink action to sex on the floor(and no its not porn - its a feature film).

I was more looking for what type of attachments etc to get - like clamps to clamp a light onto the shower curtain pole - things like that.

any other ideas?/

thanks

The thing to do in tight spaces is get a barracuda (I'm not sure how you call it there, it's an extendable pole with rubber ends that can stick between two walls by exercing pressure on both sides (like exercise bars) and clamp *LIGHTWEIGHT* lights to them, preferably kinos for their small size (Softboxes are too long). You can also tape the lamps to the wall. I would not get one hard hot light fixture except to put it outside of a window for some cases. The kamio would also yeld good results, for a more videoclipish style.

Autopole is what we call it but it might not be short enough for a bathroom. a simple maffer clamp on ashower rod will do though

Oh yeah, that can be true. One will fit my bathroom though because it's narrow, but long. I'm just thinking how to have sex on a floor of a bathroom smaller than mine... ;)

With clamps and attachments, don't forget.

I was doing sound and some lighting on a short where we shot a scene inside a *small* bathroom. The DP and I were standing inside the bathtub to the amusement of the cast and crew. I used a medium sized softbox on an Arri 650 just outside the bathroom door and we had a large reflector along one wall. The direct softlight blended nicely with the bounce from the light walls of the bathroom and the reflector gave a bit of a kick. I think there were a couple of close-ups where we moved the light partially into the bathroom.
