"Access Denied" in Encore???

Hi I need your help on a simple problem in Encore CS5.1.
I just completed the first of nine video conversions from Hi8 to DVD for a long time client. Got everything into Encore from Premiere Pro. Encore says in the Build panel that there are no issues.
Yet when I try to burn a dvd, it comes back and after a few minutes says "Access Denied"
What is that? How can I get "access"?

Note I am attempting to burn an 8.5 gb dual layer disc.

Thanks advance,
SW

Hardware problems can throw up wacky error messages sometimes (or always; Windows error handling is abysmal).

Make sure the drive is compatible with the disk - i.e. that the drive can handle the specific type of disk you're using. DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW are all different. Recording to a dual-layer disk is different again; make sure that your drive can specifically write to dual-layer disks of the type you're using (not just read dual-layer).

Make sure the Encore project is set up for the format of the disk.

(Sorry for previously waffling about BluRay, first coffee hasn't gone all the way down yet.)

I don't use Encore that much except to rescue client projects started on it, but I recall that CS 4 & 5 had some really weird issues like this. They mostly went away with CS 5.5 and CS 6 is even smoother with most of the really annoying bugs squashed.
Dig into the Adobe forums and search back far enough and you'll see a lot of these questions being asked.

To get around the problem, can you create a Disc Image? output a File Folder hierarchy? Either of those can then be burned to DVD with Toast or most burning programs set to UDF for DVD-ROM.

Oh yeah...Hi-8! That takes me back...

Hey guys thanks for the quick response.
Per Andrius' suggestion I dug a bit deeper I Adobe Forums and saw a link to a blog about how in Encore CS5.1 you need to set Encore so you are running it as an Administrator. Of course that link was dead.
So went to You Tube an sure enough thre was a 1 minute video on resetting Encore to un a Administrator.

It's easy. Just go to ":Programs", find Encore. Right click on it Go o the "General" tab and select box Run a Administrator".
Problem solved!

My real issue now is getting Encore to be able to build DVD's for transfers from Hi8 and VHS where having 20 chapters like this one did doesn't take forever to do....

So the error message was accurate??? That's a first! ;-) Glad you got it fixed, and thanks (both of you) for the info - could be very useful.
