Is there a difference between FCP2 normal version vs. Academic version?

I am planning to order a MBP as well as FCP2 academic version. need less to say the price differences are substantial so hoping to get a good deal of discount.

no difference in the actual program.. the only difference is that you can't upgrade.. so if you buy final cut studio 2 for half price, When Final cut 3 comes out you'll have to lay out the same money if you want academic again or buy the full version. I bought the academic version of FCP 4. then found myself having to buy the whole program to keep up with updates for the last couple years.
 
Yep if you really are a starving student it's the right way to go. If you're just looking to save a few bucks and not in school you'll find it hampering you in the pro world and costing more money long term.
