Academic Version

Am I allowed to use the Academic Version of FCS on commercial projects? I qualify to purchase it, but are there legal restrictions as to what I can use it for (ie. commercials, film festivals, etc.)

That should all be outlined in your EULA. My guess is probably not. And how would they find out? Plenty of ways for them to find out. Most are slim chances but if you are making money like the rest of us, why not pay for the software like the rest of us.

Actually the program can tell if a project is not for school and it tracks this. They have such a huge backlog for nailing people it might take a while. But it also wouldn't hurt to pony up for the full version before the boys in blue come knocking. :dankk2:

You can find your answers here: http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/

The only restriction on academic copies is the following:
Academic Copies: If the Apple Software package has an academic label or if you acquired the Apple Software at an academic discount, you must
be an Eligible Educational End User to use the Apple Software. "Eligible Educational End Users" means students, faculty, staff and administration
attending and/or working at an educational institutional facility (i.e., college campus, public or private K-12 schools).
