If this post needs to be removed, so be it. It serves no real purpose, and poses no questions, but I just have to say something that occurred to me.

This messageboard is in itself, a wonderful example of why the internet is great. There is an abundant amount of information, that only grows with every passing minute, and you are free to learn. We are free to come here as we please and pose any question or thought we have, and in most cases get a wide variety of reactions and responses to those thoughts, answers to those questions. I am very thankful that I stumbled across this site, and very grateful everyone who's here, is here.

dvxuser.com, rock on with yo' bad self.

You're not alone. I'm sure there are a lot of people here (including myself) who feel the EXACT same way.

:)

.

You're right. This post should be removed.

Just busting your chops. I totally agree with your post.

Yes I completly agree, this not only a place to learn but a place to share your experiences.

Thanks to all the people that make this possible. well, thanks to all the people that post here.

When is the DVXuser book out? (more than a book a big collection of books).

yes it's one of those things I feel almost spoiled with. 30 years ago - heck, even 10 - but you get the idea, no one had access to something like this. Thanks to boards like this, we can get information, feedback, and a wide variety of thoughts/opinions/perspectives from people all across the country (and world) on anything from video/film to life or something completely random.

A great way to hear from people outside your bubble and get a lot of unique input... kind of like an interactive wikipedia of sorts... pretty awesome

agreed, this site has been amazing, im just breaking into the video field and this site has helped me learn things i would have had no other way to learn.

i guess i'm a pessimist as i was thinking you were going to say "but...."

A few years back some publisher in Philadelphia by the name of Franklin started a club for merchants, tradesmen, artisans, etc. They started having meetings on a regular basis to discuss the various problems each encountered, i.e. who was having what difficulty, what solutions might work, what did work, what didn't work. It was a marketplace for the free exchange of ideas and information for the purpose of helping people to prosper in their various trades. That is exactly what we have here today; the legacy of Franklin's virtue of helping people to help themselves---aint it a beautiful thing!

Back in the year 2000 + 1 (sorry, couldn't resist the Conan'O Brian ref), I embarked upon my first REAL filmmaking venture. I attempted a sci-fi/action feature that well, lets just say it pretty much sucked. If I had DVXUSER to learn from while I was writing and in pre-production, I know that my film would have at least been better than it turned out. Maybe it would have been good. Anyways, I feel that I've learned a heck-of-a-lot from this site over the last few years.

I wonder what DVXUSER will be like in 10 - 20 years from now. (We'll all hang out in a virtual soundstage and show footage shot on our 4:4:4 3D RED TEN cameras or HVX3000's with 10TB P2 cards. Well, hopefully it will be like that.)

That's exactly what we're trying to do here. I'm trying to involve as many DVXUsers in as many capacities as I can, and in the fests we're seeing a lot of collaboration and cooperation. Through this board I'm getting a chance to produce a documentary in Thailand! (with at least four DVXUsers on board). On our next instructional DVD I think we've hired at least half a dozen DVXUsers in some capacity or other, from NY to ST. Louis to Seattle... there's pretty much no need to even look anywhere else, we've got everything we need right here.
