? about split-track AIFF in FCP pro

I've got a split-track AIFF with dialogue on one track and music on the other -- I can see the wave forms on my timeline, but I can't figure out how to unlink the two audio tracks. I've turned off linked selection, but I am unable to manipulate the tracks indpendently from one another.
